A Snapshot of Leukathon 2020

In October 2020, a couple of Chappo’s mates got together to put themselves through some pain in solidarity with their mate. This was the inaugural Leukathon and it sparked what we now refer to as a global movement of people pushing themselves in all sorts of different ways to support a great cause.

We’re proud to say that the Leukathon is back in 2021 and better than ever. With Chappo now back in the UK and fighting fit, he’s leading the charge. We have two main events taking place in London and Sydney, you can find information on each below.

However there are many ways you can show your support by doing something a little bit painful, a little bit scary, or a little bit stupid - your very own Leukathon. Whatever you might do, share it with us and channel your energies toward something that you would never do otherwise, a small symbol of the pain that blood cancer sufferers go through every day!

So what qualifies as a Leukathon? Anything painful or out of your comfort zone. Great examples from last year are:

  • Run the entire circumference of New York City

  • Hike up a mountain in the Alpes

  • Join a spin class with your friends

  • Take part in a sit-a-thon at work

  • Swim 3km in cold water

…or if you’re feeling game, join Chappo and some of his mates for Leukathon 2021!

For those in the UK:

Friday October 22nd -> Saturday 23rd

With Chappo back in the UK we’re going to test out these new stem cells of his by swimming and riding to Paris. That’s right, just as the darkness is descending on Europe, we’re going to strap on our wetsuits and swim 2km in the lovely Duck-infused Hampstead Ponds and then clip into our cycling shoes and ride to Paris, with a brief stop overnight on the lovely cargo ferry across the English Channel. Don’t worry about the journey, its all about the destination for this one, just picture yourself riding down the Champs-Élysées on Saturday evening, having ridden for almost 24hrs…

If you would like to join us on the journey, please get in touch with Luke (chapmanld@gmail.com) and Andrew (andrewpaulhogan@gmail.com) and we can fill you in on the details. We would also welcome support in parts… why not join us for a chilly swim on the Friday afternoon, a shorter ride down to the South Coast Friday evening, or what about a scenic ride in the support car through Northern France on the Saturday? Any bit of support will help get us to Paris!

For those in Australia:

Saturday October 23
